Welcome! My name is Nadia. I'm a freelance film and television critic from Ontario, Canada. I have been writing about films on and off for the past 8 years, while also studying and working in the Catering/Event Management industry. In the spring of 2020, I devoted more time to what I love to do. I founded Earth to Films, an online independent media publication with a focus on women in film. I write film and television reviews, and curate watch guides featuring new releases. I am also the editor, content writer, and graphics creator for Earth to Films. I am currently looking for a full-time position as a Staff Writer or Editor for a film/television publication.
I created this media publication largely out of my love for movies, but also to bring more attention to women's perspectives in front of and behind the camera. I felt inspired by Geena Davis and the research organization she founded (The Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media), aimed at ending unconscious gender bias. There are countless instances of people in control of media who are unaware of the misrepresented images they're projecting onto audiences. I want to be part of improving representation particularly for women in media.
